11/9/2023 0 Comments Live action yu yu hakusho![]() Legendary Entertainment previously surprised fans with the fact that they would be adapting My Hero Academia into a new live-action movie, and an even more surprising announcement last year was that Netflix has picked up the release rights for the new project. ![]() (Photo: TOHO Animation) My Hero Academia (Movie) But given how huge of a franchise Sword Art Online is, this project could end up seeing the light of day someday. ![]() Previously announcing that this new live-action series was in the works with Netflix back in 2018, it's been quite a while since any updates have been revealed about this project, and its announcement didn't really come with any major previews at what to expect either. Sword Art Online is one of the more vague projects now in the works. With the success of One Piece's live-action take opening up all sorts of new eyes for this next generation of live-action anime and manga, the projects announced to be in the works are now more exciting than ever. Netflix has a few projects that have been announced to be in the works over the last few years, and while a couple of them are scheduled for a release in the near future there are a few that are taking a bit longer. Which means that each of Netflix's upcoming projects are now that much more promising. Thankfully it has been confirmed that Sho Tsukikawa will be directing the new series alongside Kazutaka Sakamoto ( Aggretsuko, Devilman Crybaby) as executive producer and Teru Morii as producer.One Piece is currently taking over Netflix as fans and non-fans alike have flocked to the live-action take on Eiichiro Oda's classic manga and anime franchise, but there are still plenty of new live-action adaptations now in the works for Netflix coming our way! Although Netflix has released some of the more notoriously received live-action anime adaptations with fans in the last few years, One Piece has ushered in a new era that showcases how an anime or manga franchise could work in this new medium with the proper care and time. Netflix's Yu Yu Hakusho live-action series is currently scheduled for a worldwide release some time next year, but there are still many details left to fill out as fans wonder exactly what to expect from the new take on the franchise. Speaking to IGN about the casting (of which Netflix is promising that we'll see even more cast members added to the series over the coming weeks), Kitamura stated the following about becoming Yusuke for the new Yu Yu Hakusho series, "The original work is a universal and unique masterpiece and a reason why Japan is so proud of its strong manga and anime culture. Kitamura is the first member of the cast revealed thus far, and broke his silence about joining the adaptation for such a massive franchise. This is even more true as it celebrates its 30th Anniversary, and fans have been wondering how the franchise was going to come back as part of the celebration for this massive new milestone for fan favorite.įirst confirmed to be in the works back in December 2020, Shueisha, TOHO, and ROBOT are working with Netflix on a new live-action series for Yu Yu Hakusho that's being touted as an adaptation of the manga (which has some differences from the way the anime played out) with Takumi Kitamura (who starred in the live-action T okyo Revengers film as its lead, Takemichi Hanegaki) cast as the lead, Yusuke Urameshi. The original anime adaptation for Togashi's hit action manga remains one of the most well liked action anime series of all time. There's currently a new live-action series based on Yoshihiro Togashi's Yu Yu Hakusho now in the works for Netflix, and the main star behind Yusuke Urameshi has broken their silence about signing on for this big new adaptation.
